Definitions

Drinking Fountains are water dispensers that do not come with refrigeration and they do not cool the water. They can be sensor-activated or push-button activated.

Water Coolers are drinking fountains that have refrigeration and therefore cool the water.

Bottle filling stations, or bottle fillers, are water delivery devices that fill a water bottle. They can be sensor-activated or push-button activated. They can be refrigerated or not. Often, a bottle filler is mounted on top of and connected to a drinking fountain or water cooler.

All of the above devices can be filtered or not. “Drinking Fountains” are often used to cover the entire category, so even though a drinking fountain is technically not cooled, check the specifications carefully because you may find someone has mislabeled the device out of convenience.
