Sloan OEM part. This white relief valve is part of the diaphragm assembly on Sloan water closet flushometers. It is compatible with many Sloan (100 Series), Regal, Royal, Crown and Series 900 flush valves. (aka: 5301058)
A worn or damaged relief valve can result in too little water per flush. If badly damaged, it can even prevent the toilet or urinal from flushing at all.
Relief valves come in several versions separately or together with the diaphragm. Generally speaking, the white versions are for water closet (toilet) applications and let the most water (gpf or gallons per flush) through. The black is designed for urinals and lets the least through. Other colors include blue (for toilets), and green. The green type, as you might guess, is a reduced gpf (more eco friendly) version, and can be found in both urinal and water closet flushometers. The actual amount of water released is based on the combination of diaphragm and relief valve (along with water pressure and the control stop).
Note: This part is only for manual sloan flushometers. Sensor flushometers use flush volume regulators instead.
