Select a style.

Ceiling Hung Partitions

Floor to Ceiling Partitions

Headrail / Overhead Braced
This economical and sturdy mounting style installs just about anywhere. An anodized aluminum anti-grip head rail secures partitions firmly to the walls.

Floor Mounted
Simplified construction permits ease of installation anywhere. For concrete floors only: 2" minimum penetration into floor required.

Ceiling Hung
When used together with wall-hung fixtures, the entire floor is accessible for efficient cleaning. Structural steel ceiling supports are necessary to assure proper installation.

Floor to Ceiling
This mounting style is extremely stable and durable as pilasters are anchored into both the concrete floor and the structural ceiling support.

Select your material.

Each manufacturer offers a range of partition types.  Some of the more common are listed below.

Powder Coated (Steel)
Powder coated steel toilet partitions are the industry standard and are the most popular choice for new construction or remodeling of restroom partitions due to their durable quality and economical pricing.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel toilet partitions lend a feeling of luxury and a modern appearance to any commercial restroom environment where appearance and strength are prime considerations.
Phenolic - Black Core
Phenolic (Black Core) is a unique material designed especially for full water contact, high traffic, and vandal-prone environments. It is ideal for high humidity areas, or where hose-down cleaning methods are used.  Phenolic “black core” has black edges, compared to “color thru”, which has solid color edges.
Phenolic - Solid Color
Phenolic (Color-Thru) is a unique material designed especially for full water contact, high traffic, and vandal-prone environments. It is ideal for high humidity areas, or where hose-down cleaning methods are used.  Phenolic “color thru” has solid color edges, compared to “black core”, which has black edges.
Plastic Laminate
Plastic laminate toilet partitions provide beautiful appearance with tremendous flexibility. Plastic laminate requires minimal care, coupled with low initial cost. The finish is available in many designer colors and wood grain textures to appeal to any decorating taste, and will resist any cosmetic damage.
Solid Plastic
Solid plastic toilet partitions are an ideal material choice for high traffic and vandalism-prone commercial restrooms where low maintenance and durability are a necessity. Minor scratches can be successfully repaired due to a solid color throughout the material, and the partitions never need repainting.
Solid Surface
Solid Surface toilet partitions are perfect for applications where rugged durability, ease of maintenance, and practical elegance are important considerations.  It has natural anti-microbial features and does not support the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria, making the material ideal for hospitals and the hospitality sector, where sanitation is of utmost importance.
Dur-A-Tex
The Dur-A-Tex™ line of partitions is a highly durable, value added, textured surface steel partition. A proprietary two-coat paint process developed by Metpar on galvanized steel increases the durability.  The textured surface of Dur-A-Tex™ gives a rich, upscale appearance to the décor of all environments.
COLOR OPTIONS:  These vary, of course, by material, and by manufacturer. But the widest variety of choices, will always be for powder coated partitions. For textures or grains, look to stainless steel, solid plastic, or Dur-A-Tex. For more exotic looks, consider plastic laminate which has "faux" grains and textures, or solid surface, which is a composite material that mimics granite or quartz.

For each partition type, however, there will be some colors that are considered "stock" or "quick-ship." These will be completed more quickly (and sometimes less expensively) than the others.

Select your hardware.

Typically you have two choices for hardware material:

Chrome Plated - Usually a bright, polished finish.
Stainless Steel - Usually a brushed or satin finish.

Most partition manufacturers offer various hardware "add-ons."  Some of the more common are:

Select your privacy level.

Partition manufacturers will have various privacy packages and add-ons.  Most offer a Standard package, one or two middle packages, and a maximum privacy package (often referred to as European Style).  Not all privacy options are available for all materials, so you will want to consider both at the same time. As you would expect, the higher the level of privacy, the more expensive the partitions.

Here are some examples:

Standard PrivacyEnhanced PrivacyEuropean Style
These partitions typically have 58" tall panels and doors and a 12" gap at bottom of stall.  Some additional privacy options are available to cover vertical sight-lines.
These partitions feature 64-72" tall panels and doors. They extend higher and leave a 6-8" gap at bottom of stall. As with the standard privacy partitions, additional options are usually available to cover sight lines at edges of door, etc.Designed for maximum privacy these partitions leave only a 2-3" gap underneath. They extend higher than all other partition styles. They will almost always have "No-Sight-Line" features and many include occupancy indicators as standard.

In addition to the above, there are usually privacy add-ons that can be applied to "upgrade" the privacy of a given package.  These are mostly geared towards reducing external sight-lines (the space between the door and panels, between the panels and the walls, or between adjacent panels). Solutions include continuous door hinges (top to bottom), privacy strips, and plastic or metal channels which are installed when a partition butts up against another partition or a wall.

Record your overall bathroom dimensions.

Generally, this will be the width of the room, the length of the room, and the height of the room (if your project will include Floor to Ceiling or Ceiling Hung partitions).

In addition, you will need to note the location(s) of doors, closets, windows, or any other impediments that might affect the stall dimensions.
